ANNUAL REPORT

2004-2005

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Significant changes were made to New Mexico’s systems of care for children and families during 2004 and 2005. All funding streams for services were “braided” together, and the managed care company, Value-Options, now manages mental health as well as enhanced services for the children, adults and families of New Mexico.

We at La Familia had to make some difficult decisions in order to remain fiscally strong through these changes. We closed our adult services department and folded outpatient services under Treatment Foster Care. However, as Albert Einstein said, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”

I have always believed that La Familia’s mission and vision attracts exceptionally talented and professionally sound staff members. I hold that belief more
strongly today than ever. Through the commitment of our staff members, and through collaboration with community advocates, we have clarified our strengths in order to build even better services for those seeking guidance and support.

We continue to provide Treatment Foster Care services, infant, as well as special needs adoption services, psychiatry, equine therapy, family and individual therapy, deaf group home services, school based social work, and parent training and support. We will continue to provide adoption training for the community through the Infant Adoption Training Initiative. In addition, we have expanded our case management services, and we have added Family Stabilization Services.

In the near future we look forward to adding Comprehensive Community

Services to our offerings.

We at La Familia are proud to provide programs and services for hundreds of children and families each year and we are grateful for all of our supporters. We are committed to the continued provision of high quality services for the families of New Mexico.
