La Familia 2002 Annual Report

Text Box: The second case manager serves students who attend RFK Charter High School.  RFK Charter High School has a contract with La Familia for case management services.  The case manager is a member of the Mental Health Team at the school.
Case management services focuses on helping clients meet their needs and reach their goals.  Case managers examine how the clients interface with the larger community Text Box: The Case Management Program is staffed by two case managers.  One case manager serves Medicaid clients.  Many of the clients served are referred from other La Familia programs, especially the Outpatient Clinic and Treatment Foster Care.  The Case Management program is licensed by the state to provide case management services to children and adolescents who have Medicaid.

Text Box: clients.  Some clients seek treatment for personal growth and development, or to achieve changes in problematic situations they experience.  Others come to the clinic to get help with serious or chronic mental and behavioral health issues. Therapies in the Outpatient Clinic take a positive, solution-focused approach that gives primary importance to the goals of clients and the client’s highest functioning.
During 2002 the Outpatient Clinic provided Text Box: more than 4900 therapy sessions and approximately 2400 psychiatry sessions.  The average monthly census was 243 clients.  An average of 88 clients received both therapy and psychiatry services, 120 received psychiatry only, and 35 received only therapy.
Text Box: The Outpatient Clinic is staffed by 8 independently licensed therapists and three psychiatrists who are board certified to work with children and adolescents.  Services offered include psychotherapy, psychiatric assessment, and medication management.  Many of the therapies used in the clinic are specialized for children and families.  A large portion of the clients served in the clinic are children who are also placed in the La Familia Treatment Foster Care program.

Text Box: The Outpatient Services Department at La Familia has two components:  The Outpatient Clinic and the Case Management Program.  During 2002 the Semi-Independent Living Program was discontinued due to lack of funding from CYFD for the service.
